Business Undergraduate Advising - Overview

At The University of Texas at Arlington's College of Business, we believe academic advising is a partnership between students and advisors that promotes successful progress through the students' personal, education, and career goals. Our mission is to build a rapport with each student from admission to graduation through holistic advising and actively engaging in the student's unique journey.

  • ADVISING

Academic advising for undergraduate business students is available by appointment or walk-in advising. All advising takes place in Suite 107 of the Business Building.

Appointments are best suited for needs that require advance preparation, such as strategic planning, course selection, degree requirements, probation-related situations and in-depth questions. Schedule an appointment with a business advisor based on your desired major.

    •   Day Appointments: Monday through Friday (8 a.m. – 4 p.m.)
    •   Evening Appointments: Monday through Thursday (4–6:20 p.m.)

Walk-in advising is best suited for quick questions, dropping a course(s), withdrawing from a semester, graduation audits, resources, etc.

    •   Advisor on call meets with students on a first-come, first-served basis.

    •   Walk-in advising will occur on Mondays and Tuesdays (9am-4pm) *

Hours on the following days will be 8am–12:40pm and 1:40pm-3pm *
    February 27, March 19, April 9, April 17, April 30, and May 8

March 12-13 (during Week of Spring Break) – Walk-in advising will not be available.

March 26–30 (Last Week to Drop) - Walk-in advising will be available for
drops and withdrawals only during the hours of 8am–12pm and 1pm–4pm.
All drops/withdrawals must be done in person by 4pm on March 30.

    •   All business majors welcome.

    * IMPORTANT:  An earlier cutoff may be required based on the number of students
in the queue and the service needed.

Academic advising is mandatory each semester for business intended students (who have not yet met the requirements to declare a major in the College of Business) and students who are on probation or dismissal/suspension.

Declared business students are encouraged to meet with an advisor to develop a plan to graduation and prior to enrolling in the last semester. Advising is not mandatory unless you are on probation. (See Degree Progress and Major Dismissal.)

Advising is much more efficient when both advisor and student are prepared. Please arrive at your appointment or walk-in advising with the following:
    •   pen and paper
    •   a list of questions
    •   an idea of your major and career goals
    •   transcripts with any new course information

  • ADDITIONAL SERVICES AVAILABLE for DROP OFF

Some services are not completed by a major business advisor and do not require an appointment or walk-in advising.

Place the documents listed below in the drop box located in Suite 107 of the Business Building and allow 3-5 business days for processing. We will file completed documents in the filing cabinet directly beneath the drop box under your last name. It is your responsibility to deliver the completed document to the appropriate department.
