Ashley Anne McGowan Memorial Accounting Scholarship

Purpose

The Ashley Anne McGowan Memorial Accounting Scholarship was established to honor the memory of Ashley McGowan. Annual funding is provided by the family of Ashley Anne McGowan

About Ashley McGowan

Ashley Anne McGowan earned her Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting degree in 2008, and Masters of Science in Accounting degree in 2009 at the University of Texas Arlington, as a participant of the Professional Program In Accounting. During her time at U.T.A., Ashley organized, led and actively participated in many events on campus through the Beta Alpha Psi Accounting Honor Society, where she served as Treasurer in 2007, and as President in 2008. Ashley also served as the U.T.A. Campus Representative of the Texas Society of CPAs in 2008. Ashley was a Senior Financial Analyst for Intel Corporation, Portland, Oregon.

One scholarship of $500 will be awarded annually to an Accounting major to help defray the cost of books and classroom materials.

Criteria

To be eligible for the Ashley Anne McGowan Memorial Accounting scholarship, a student must meet the following criteria:

1.     Applicants must be a first generation college bound female, and a full-time student.

2.     Be a declared undergraduate accounting major currently enrolled in an accounting degree program at UTA;

3.     Have achieved a minimum overall GPA of 3.00 in courses completed at UTA

4.     Have at least 9 semester hours of study remaining to complete an accounting degree at the University of Texas at Arlington.

5.     Qualified applicants will be judged based on academic performance, and service to the university/community.
