Sales Certificate Courses

The Sales Certificate program prepares students for a challenging and rewarding career in the sales profession. The program will enhance students’ abilities to sell themselves, their ideas, as well as products and services. It also equips students with knowledge and skills related to developing and managing mutually beneficial relationships with customers. The Sales Certificate program stresses the ethical, technological, and global aspects of professional sales, deemed a necessary prerequisite for sustainable growth. The Sales Certificate program is built on a strong theoretical background but emphasizes applications and practice. The Sales Certificate Program responds to the growing demand for students with a sales education and it is available to both business and non-business majors.

Admission & Eligibility

Admission to the program

Students seeking admission to the Sales Certificate program must have completed 45 hours of college credit with a minimum G.P.A. of 2.0.

Eligibility requirements

To remain eligible for the Sales Certificate program, all students must maintain a G.P.A. of 2.0 or better with a minimum grade of C in every course taken as part of the Sales Certificate program.

Students who earn grades of D or F in two Sales Certificate program courses will be dismissed from the program.

Program Requirements for Business Majors

The Sales Certificate requires 18-credit hours for Business Majors with 12-credit hours from required courses and 6-credit hours from elective classes as described below.

Required Courses:
  • BCOM 3360 – Effective Business Communications
  • MARK 3321 – Principles of Marketing
  • MARK 3322 – Professional Selling
  • MARK 4308 - Managing and Leading the Sales Force
Students enrolled in the Sales Certificate Program must take two classes from the following:
  • MARK 3323 – Integrated Marketing Communications
  • MARK 3370 – Social Media Marketing
  • MARK 4303 – Retail and Services Marketing
  • MARK 4325 – International Marketing
  • MARK 4393* – Marketing Internship - For Marketing Majors Only.
    Other students can enroll for sales internships in their respective departmental internship courses.
  • If taking MARK 4393 or enrolling in any other internship class for credit towards the Sales Certificate, the actual work performed in the internship must be sales focused.

Program Requirements for Non-Business Majors

The Sales Certificate requires 18-credit hours for Business Majors with 12-credit hours from required courses and 6-credit hours from elective classes as described below.

  • MARK 3321 – Principles of Marketing
  • MARK 3322 – Professional Selling
  • MARK 4308 - Managing and Leading the Sales Force
Students enrolled in the Sales Certificate Program must take two classes from the following:
