Class Mailing List or Listserv

Most agencies and programs today use technology to aid communications.  Part of the experience of this class is to learn to use technology to foster communication.  One technology tools is called a mailing list (listserv).   A mailing list is a Web based tool that works like a newsletter subscription.  Users send an email to the mailing list software, called listserv on the UTA network.  All subscribers automatically receive all emails sent to the list. 

The name of the mailing list for this class is called cspclass      You will automatically be subscribed using your UTA email address.  If you want to receive the mailing list emails at another email address, do the following.

  • To subscribe to the class mailing list, send an email to listserv@listserv.uta.edu and type subscribe cspclass yourfirstname yourlastname in the body of the message.  For advice on participating in a mailing list, view the netiquette file in the course pack. 
  • To unsubscribe from the cspclass mailing list, send an email to listserv@listserv.uta.edu with the word signoff in the body of the message.  
  • To send a message to all students who subscribe to the list, send email to cspclass@listserv.uta.edu    
  • To help all in the class keep track of messages from this listserv, put the course number as the first item n the subject of all messages, e.g., 6371.  Also, try to give a subject that indicates the content of the message.
