Application Paper, Part B:  Decision/Problem Solution Design

Read these instructions carefully.  This form will collect and organize the information needed for the solution to your problem/situation.  You might want to develop your answers in your word processor and then cut and paste them into this form.  If you type directly into this form, you should copy and past each answer into your word processor just in case this form fails to save them.  If everything works correctly, you will receive a page that contains each question names along with your answer.  You can then cut and paste that page into your word processor and use it for the draft of your solution paper.  You will need to edit the draft by adding transitions sentences, section headings, section introductions and conclusions, etc.  Then add 4 pieces of information:

  1. An cover page and introduction.  The cover page and introduction should provide what the analysis paper will and will not contain, the rationale for doing the analysis, the intended audience, and why the analysis is important.
  2. A summary of your analysis paper, part A.  Take a few pages to provide your list of stakeholders and summarize the decisions and information they make regarding the situation/problem, and provide the list of capacities and needs your analysis identified.
  3. A conclusion.  The conclusion should summarize the problem/situation, your preferred solution and any next steps.
  4. A one page executive summary that summarizes everything.  This could be given to a busy manager or politician who has only a minute or two to read one page about your application.

After adding the 3 sections above, you will have a basic analysis paper which you should enhance with additional information, examples, illustrations, web links, references, etc.  Don't forget to examine the grading criteria on the bottom of the description of the solution paper.
