Business Undergraduate Advising

Preparing for Business Advising

Advising in the College of Business is a collaborative process between the student and the business advisor. The student can expect that the advisor will be prepared to provide accurate information, discuss degree requirements, assist in planning the class schedule, discuss policies and procedures, provide connections with appropriate campus resources.

In an effort to make the business advising appointment or session most productive, it is expected that the student be prepared as well.

  • If the advising appointment will include planning for future course selection, the student should make a concerted effort to plan a tentative schedule using the Schedule Planner in MyMav and bring a copy to the appointment.

  • The student should know their degree requirements and their graduation requirements.

  • The student should prepare and bring a list of questions to be asked during the appointment.

  • Declared Business Majors should be certain to track their academic progress by checking their UMAP.
