Texas Environmental Health Association Scholarship

Requirements:

  1. Applicant must be enrolled for 12 semester hours of undergraduate work or three (3) semester hours of graduate level work to qualify for the scholarship.

  2. Applicants must be enrolled in an accredited college or university in Texas and be a Texas resident.

  3. Applicants must have a 3.0 grade point average in the semester prior to application. An official transcript from previous semester must be submitted with the application.

  4. Applicants must be pursuing course work in a major area such as natural, life, and environmental science, environmental or community health or nursing. Graduate candidates may be enrolled in a Masters in Public Administration, Business Management or Administration with intention of entering the Environmental Public Health Field.

  5. Application deadline is October 31. The disbursement of the award will be made in December.

     

    Level of Disbursements: $750 Undergraduate*
    $750 Graduate*

    *or as specified by the Governing Council

     

  6. Applicants must be able to provide two letters of support. These may be from teachers, employers, etc. At least on letter must be from an academic or employment-related source.

Scholarship Review Committee

 

A committee of three (3) members shall be appointed by the Chapter President to review the applications. Applications will be evaluated on a point system as follows:

 

Academic Record 50 points
References 20 points
TEHA Member 5 points
Autobiography 10 points
Extracurricular & Environmental Activities 15 points
Total 100 points

 

The committee may consider availability of other scholarships, employment income, and financial need as criteria for candidate selection.

 

The following must accompany each application:

  1. Complete scholarship application;

  2. Official transcript of grades, including the semester or grading period;

  3. At least two, but not more than four, letters of endorsement as specified.
