Ortiz Family Endowed Scholarship

Purpose
When received, such funds shall be used to create the Ortiz Family Endowed Scholarship as a permanent endowment to benefit the Accounting Department in the College of Business at UT Arlington. Funds distributed from the endowment shall be used to award scholarships to undergraduate students majoring in Accounting who have financial need.

Benefactor
Ramiro Ortiz, Jr. began his studies at the University of Texas at Arlington in 1979, and earned his Bachelor in Business Administration in Accounting and a Master of Arts in Economics degrees. During his studies, Ramiro served with the United States Marine Corps Reserve and continued his service until retirement from the Marine Corps in 1994. Subsequent to earning his bachelor’s degree, Ramiro entered the accounting profession where he developed skills that would serve him throughout his career. Early in his career, he earned his certification as a Certified Public Accountants and completed his master’s in Economics. Ramiro’s professional career included working for Atlantic Richfield Co., KPMG LLP, BearingPoint Inc., and The Hackett Group .
