FAQs: Reserving Graduate Courses for Credit
|
Q:
|
I
only need a few courses to complete my undergraduate accounting degree next
semester and I plan to work on an accounting master's degree after that. Can I
start taking master's classes next semester before I finish my undergraduate
degree?
|
A:
|
Yes. The Graduate School will allow a current
undergraduate student to enroll in graduate classes if the following conditions
are met:
- Coursework required for the undergraduate degree must be completed
during the first semester that graduate courses are taken;
- Total registration for
all work (undergraduate and graduate) may not exceed 15 semester hours (or 12 hours in the summer);
-
The student must submit a "Reservation of Courses for
Graduate Credit" form to the graduate accounting advisor for approval;
-
The student must have a minimum overall undergraduate
GPA of 3.0;
- Only
courses with earned A or B can subsequently apply to the master's degree;
-
Graduate credit will only be granted when the student
is officially accepted into Graduate School; and
-
The student must have a minimum accounting GPA of 3.25
in 3000 and 4000 level accounting courses.

What
is the process to enroll in graduate classes under the "Reservation for Graduate
Credit" option?
|
A:
|
The student should
complete and submit the form to the Graduate Advisor for the Department of
Accounting. The advisor will check and make certain that the student meets all
of the specified conditions. The advisor will approve the form which the
student then submits to the Registrar's Office. The advisor will then enter the course(s) selected into the student's registration screen.
