Graduation Checklist

  • Schedule an appointment with your academic advisor when you are within one academic year of your intended graduation term to identify all remaining coursework in your degree program and a registration schedule for completing that remaining coursework by no later than the end of the intended graduation term.  

  • Follow the completion plan for your remaining degree program coursework that you and your advisor have prepared.

  • Before the registration period opens for the intended graduation term, ask your academic advisor to reconfirm your eligibility to graduate at the end of the intended graduation term, based on coursework completed-to-date and coursework that will be completed during the graduation term. If your academic advisor reconfirms your eligibility to graduate at the end of the intended graduation term,  Apply To Graduate by the deadline below:

  • Pay the $40 filing fee online or at the Bursar Office when the application for graduation filing fee posts to your MyMav account.

  • Visit the UTA Graduate School website and explore pursuing graduate studies at UTA after you receive your bachelor's degree.   

  • Confirm with your Academic Dean's Office how many tickets you are receiving for your commencement ceremony.    

  • Order your commencement ceremony cap and gown, honors cord (if eligible), and graduation announcements at the UTA Bookstore.     

  • Check out the hotel and dining links on the Arlington, Texas Visitor Site  and provide the site link to out-of-town guests who will be celebrating yourgraduation with you.

  • Successfully complete all coursework you are taking in residence at UTA during the graduation term.

  • Successfully complete all coursework you are taking at other institutions during the graduation term.

  • Hand-deliver transfer transcripts with graduation term course credits listed to the UTA Office of Records Graduation Desk in Davis Hall 129.

  • Successfully complete exams for credit as early as possible during the graduation term to ensure sufficient processing time to score and evaluate exams you're using for required degree program credits. 

  • Order your Transcripts Online, so they will be processed AFTER your final grades and degree conferral have both been posted to your academic record.   

  • After you apply to graduate, check your UTA email account regularly for important graduation information and updates during the graduation term.  

  • After final grades post, check your UTA email account every few days for the result of your final degree audit check. (Note:  If your final degree audit check is not satisfactory, you will receive an email message informing you that your degree could not be awarded due to an unsatisfactory final degree audit check. The message will also include instructions on what must be done for you to pass your final degree audit check.) 

  • After your degree has been officially awarded or conferred, check your UTA Email account every few days for a message informing you that your diploma has been printed and mailed.

  • Celebrate the accomplishment of completing a degree at The University of Texas at Arlington… for the rest of your life!
